Product Review: NYX Two Timer Dual-Ended Eyeliner

Hi guys!

We absolutely love product reviews because we think they’re so useful when you want to get a second opinion whether something is worth buying or not. A lot of things aren’t as they seem nowadays, so it’s always good to read reviews and people’s opinions on products before you go out and spend your money. Also, it’s a good way to learn how to use the product, because a lot of times, there aren’t clear instructions. This can make you think that a product sucks when actually you just don’t know how to use it so you’ll never see the product’s full potential.

With that, today, I’m going to try the NYX Cosmetics Two Timer Dual-Ended Eyeliner (you can get it here) in the color Jet Black. I recently bought this product at the NYX booth at Selfridges and I was so excited to try it out, I love that NYX products are now in London! They also sell it at Boots now or you can get it on Amazon (here).

What Is It?

It’s a dual-ended eyeliner, that on one side has a black kohl kajal pencil and on the other has a felt tip liquid eyeliner. You can use both sides simultaneously or just one at a time to create makeup looks that are super bold and smoky or classic and gorgeous.

How I Used It:

I started my skin prep, by washing my face with the Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub (here) and moisturizing my skin with the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer for sensitive skin (here). After that, I did my usual foundation, eyebrow, highlight and contouring routines and I applied neutral colors on my eyes from the Morphe Cosmetics 35O Palette (here) to really see the eyeliner in action:

In order for me to really test out the eyeliner, I decided to do a look that focuses mostly on the eyes, so I went for a classic pinup look with a cat eye and red lips.

Applying eyeliner isn’t easy and in seconds, you can ruin your eyeshadow masterpieces if you don’t know how to apply it (or if you sneeze lol). So for me, regardless if I’m going for something simple or super dramatic, I always follow these steps that have yet to fail me:

1- Draw a line that goes from the end of your lash line to wherever you want you cat-eye to end. Apply less pressure on the end of the line to make it thinner at the tip.

2- Draw another line that goes from the end of the line that you just drew, all the way to your eyelashes. Depending on the type of eyeliner look that you want, the thickness of this line varies; but since I want to do a cat-eye, the line can be relatively thick.

3- Draw another line along your lash line that connects your inner corner to the previous line you drew. Start by creating a very thin line and gradually build up the thickness in case you make a mistake. This way, you can always go over any mistake you made without the line getting too thick.

4- Fill in the gaps between all of the lines and try to draw your eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible and you’re done!

Next, I used mascara on my top and bottom lashes (I used the L’Óreal Paris Telescopic Mascara, that you can get here) and I used a dark brown shadow (from the Morphe 35O) in my lower lashline to finish the eyes.

To complete this classic look, I added red lipstick. I used the Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in the shade 107 and you can see in this post here how I make it more flattering for my skin tone.

And voilá! The finished look!

What I Thought:

I think that the liquid eyeliner is very good and the fact that it has a felt-tip applicator makes it super easy to apply. I also like to use gel eyeliners, but they’re definitely not as easy to apply as this one from NYX, especially if you’re a newbie in the eyeliner world (like me). I really liked the fact that the eyeliner dried glossy (with a leather-like finish) instead of matte like a lot of other eyeliners. I think that this makes the look a bit classier and it enhances the eyes more.

Now for the side with the kohl kajal pencil, I don’t think I’ll be using it very much given that I like to enhance my eyes and make them appear bigger, so I feel that if I apply this on my lower lash line it might have the opposite effect (I prefer to use a dark brown eyeshadow, as can be seen above, because for my skin tone it’s less bold than the black). Either way, the pencil is super creamy and glides on smoothly which can be even used on the eyelids to create bold smoky eye looks.

All in all, I really liked this product and I think that if you’re a beginner (like me) and you’re having trouble with applying eyeliner, this product would be great for you!

I hope you enjoyed the review about the NYX Cosmetics eyeliner and if you tried it out let us know what you thought in the comments. Also, if you have any suggestions of any other products you’d like to see or think we should try, leave your recommendations of products in the comments.

Beautiful step by step guide on how to apply the NYX eyeliner. Will be purchasing it soon. Please do some reviews on hair products, a good flat iron to use and what do you use to remove your makeup, do you use any Micellar water, olive oil or soap, etc. Your skin is flawless.
